On 10 and 11 September 2015, a Global Forum on Nutrition-Sensitive Protection (GFNSSP) was held in Moscow, sponsored by the Russian Federation and the World Bank Group. The Forum brought together over 150 participants from national governments, non-governmental and international organisations to share information, evidence and experiences in successful nutrition-sensitive social protection programmes.

“Our goal is to create the foundation for our future work to effectively combine and introduce social protection programmes in the area of food security and nutrition,” – Anna Popova, Head of the Federal Service for Surveillance on Consumer Rights Protection and Human Wellbeing (Rospotrebnadzor)

The Global Forum on Nutrition-Sensitive Social Protection Programs was organised to contribute to the evidence base for policy options and operations/operational actions. Aims of the Global Forum:

  • Support countries in catalyzing, building commitments for, designing, establishing, managing, and scaling up nutrition-sensitive social protection programs.
  • Disseminate best policies and practices and innovative approaches.
  • Improve access to knowledge and build awareness related to nutrition-sensitive social protection.
  • Facilitate South-South and Triangular cooperation and exchange of experience and lessons learned.
  • Enhance coordination and cooperation among development partners.
