Joint estimates group releases 2016 report on levels and trends in child malnutrition

stuntingIn September 2016, the inter-agency team (UNICEF, WHO and the World Bank Group) released new joint estimates of child stunting, overweight, underweight, wasting and severe wasting which reveal that the number of stunted children under 5 has dropped by 3 million.

Key findings include that while stunting rates are dropping, 156 million children under the age of 5 are stunted, 42 million children are overweight and wasting still threatens the lives of 50 million children under 5 globally.
