Following on from the November launch of Madagascar’s Civil Society Alliance (CSA) – Hina – on February 3, 2105, the CSA held its constitutive general assembly marking the official establishment of the Alliance and elected the members of its Board for a three year mandate.

The Board of Hina is made up of 7 members (a president, vice president and 5 advisers) 4 of whom are women, including the vice-president. The meeting was attended by over 50 platforms, associations, and regional Civil Society Organisations (CSOs) from 7 of the 22 Malagasy regions – Alaotra Mangoro, Analamanga, Analanjirofo, Atsinanana, Bongolava, Matsiatra Ambony and Menabe.

In Malagasy, the word ‘Hina’ signifies characteristics of unity, strength, support and consolidation.
