NEPAD and SADC firm up actions to boost their Knowledge-Sharing and Monitoring platform
On 21st April 2015, a meeting was held between the New Partnership for Africa’s Development (NEPAD) and the Southern African Development Community (SADC) to firm up actions needed to boost food and nutrition security in SADC countries through a regional knowledge platform.
Participants discussed how the regional knowledge platform will foster a multi-sectoral approach in information and knowledge sharing among countries and regional stakeholders. The platform will also facilitate peer-learning, foster capacity development and act as a tool to advocate for increasing investments in food security and nutrition.
The platform is also envisaged as an initiative to foster regional coordination, as well as accountability in the Malabo roadmap and the CAADP Programme of Work (2015-2025). An agreed set of actions on the way forward will see the Platform piloted in Botswana, Lesotho, Mozambique, Tanzania and Zimbabwe, all of which are SUN Countries.
