A private sector focus at the 2016 Integrated Nutrition Conference in Kenya
From 14-16 November 2016, Catholic Relief Services held the 2016 Integrated Nutrition Conference in Nairobi, Kenya. The two main objectives of the conference were to identify strategies for civil society, government and academia to partner with the private sector and to leverage private sector products, technologies and practices that support the nutrition needs of vulnerable populations.
The event brought together people from the private sector, NGOs, academia and donor community to learn from, share experiences and motivate each other for greater nutrition impact. Special guests included Agnes Kalibata, President, Alliance for a Green Revolution in Africa (AGRA) and Gladys Mugambi, Head, Nutrition and Dietetics Unit, Ministry of Health, Kenya and SUN Government Focal Point.
Discussions spanned across the areas of water and sanitation, agriculture, health and early childhood development, education, and gender. Participants shared tools, technologies, practices, business models, and multi-sectoral partnership strategies that improve the nutritional outcomes of vulnerable populations.
