UN as a provider & broker of Technical & Functional Capacity Development

By working through normative and operational activities at global, regional and country levels, UN agencies are acting collectively to support countries in their advocacy, governance and implementation efforts to prevent and rapidly reduce all forms of malnutrition.

In 2013, the Principals of five UN Agencies endorsed the UN Network for Scaling Up Nutrition. Learn more about the commitment.

More information about the five agencies and the support they provide to countries can be found on their websites: FAOIFADUNICEFWFP and WHO

In addition to the five agencies, significant support is provided by the REACH (at country level) and the UN Standing Committee on Nutrition (UNSCN) (at global level).

REACH is a neutral facility offered by the UN Network for SUN to support SUN processes and provide facilitation, coordination, analytical and capacity development support for country-led nutrition responses. Download the REACH Summary Brief: English Français and visit the REACH website.

The UN Standing Committee on Nutrition (UNSCN) is the global food and nutrition policy harmonization forum of the United Nations. Learn more about the UNSCN at the UNSCN website.

In addition, the Global Nutrition Cluster (GNC) works to improve the nutritional status of emergency affected populations by improving the effectiveness of humanitarian response programmes. Learn more at the GNC website.
