A message from the SUN Executive Committee

Dear colleagues,

We are very pleased to share with you the draft Scaling Up Nutrition (SUN) Movement Strategy for 2021 to 2025.

Informed by the Mid-term Review in 2018, the Strategic Review in 2019-2020 and last year’s Global Gathering, the SUN Movement Executive Committee has led the process to draft the strategy, maintaining a strong focus on transparency, openness and inclusiveness while also tackling the urgent need for the nutrition community to navigate the new COVID-19 landscape including continuing to show its value.

To ensure ownership and consensus throughout the Movement the draft strategy will be shared widely for consultation.  The purpose of this one-month open consultation is to reach agreement for what has been proposed and to invite propositions for enhancements that can enrich the draft strategy. The consultation is open from 4 August to 4 September 2020.

The approach to consultation has the following components:

• A confidential online survey is open to all those with an interest in the SUN Movement:

In addition or alternative to completing the survey:

• SUN Country Focal Points are invited to discuss the draft strategy with colleagues and partners in their countries and share reactions with SUN Country Focal Points on the Executive Committee in virtual discussions arranged during this one-month consultation process

• SUN Networks will get in touch with their members across the Movement to collect and consolidate inputs.

The same question format will be used to guide all components of the consultation and to consolidate feedback received through them.  If members/partners feel they are not able to adequately express their views through these channels, they are invited to send their concise input to the Executive Committee through the independent facilitators, Adam Leach (ALeach@mokoro.co.uk) and Jane Keylock (jane.keylock@nutritionworks.org.uk).

Responses will inform further revisions leading to eventual endorsement by the Lead Group and feedback will be made available on the SUN Movement website whilst respecting confidentiality.  Following endorsement of the SUN Movement 3.0 strategy, the focus will switch to its operationalisation and implementation.

A draft consultation guide has been developed which outlines the process, key dates, contacts and channels to share reactions and suggestions to the draft strategy.  The consultation guide is also attached and can be found on the SUN Movement website here.

Many thanks to all SUN Movement stakeholders who have contributed to-date, and who will continue to contribute to the consultations. This is our Movement and your participation is critical so we can further transform it into one led by countries, for countries.

If you have questions, queries or need any clarification at all please do feel free to contact us.
