InternationalWomensDay-landscapeOn 8 March 2016, the International Women’s Day campaign #PledgeForParity called for urgent action to accelerate gender parity. The campaign is led from the website www.internationalwomensday.com and is organised in two areas to generate momentum around the day.

Celebrate #IWD2016

The website is a hub to showcase activities for International Women’s Day around the world. Thousands of activities are registered on the website each year so members of the public can find local events to attend. It also collates videos and hosts a funding facility for female-focused charities.

Action #PledgeForParity.

The website also acts as a platform to provide advocates with materials to campaign towards the theme for the year. Ways to take action include making a pledge, developing an internal #PledgeForParity campaign within an organisation, hosting a #PledgeForParity event or host a prominent speaker.

The International Women’s Day website has been operating for over 15 years as a shared global digital hub dedicated to everything International Women’s Day. The campaign sponsor is EY (Ernst & Young) and partners include accenture, AECOM, the African Development Bank, avanade, BP, European Bank, MetLife, Western Union and the World Association of Girl Guides and Girl Scouts as the charity partner.
