The SPRING Project makes a nutrition #PledgeForParity on Women’s Day
On 8 March 2016, the USAID funded global nutrition project, Strengthening Partnerships, Results, and Innovations in Nutrition Globally (SPRING), joined the global health and nutrition communities by pledging for parity for women and adolescent girl in their quest to end malnutrition.
SPRING recognises the critical role women and girls’ play in meeting global nutrition goals and believes that better nutrition programming and addressing the unique situations of women and girls provides great steps toward increasing empowerment.
Poor nutrition is a serious problem for millions of people around the world, and it can be especially dangerous for pregnant women and adolescent girls. If a pregnant woman is undernourished or aneamic, she faces a difficult birth and her child faces increased health risks.
