Biography

Ms. Karima is the Planning and Liaison Specialist in the SUN Secretariat in Yemen. She led the development process of Yemen’s Multi-Sectoral Nutrition Action Plan and the establishment of Yemen’s SUN Business Network. She has been working to strengthen the national nutrition platforms by bringing the different stakeholders from the government, UNs, donors and CSOs together for the sake of improving the nutrition status in Yemen. Despite the extreme challenges in Yemen, as the worst humanitarian crisis in the world, she has been advocating for a whole-of-government approach. Karima is an advocate for the SUN Movement approach in the humanitarian settings through promoting the SUN’s structure model besides the Clusters. She supports the engagement of the National NGOs in nutrition interventions as an advisor and enlightening the leading NNGOs on the SUN CSOs Alliances and their role in the conflict-affected context such as Yemen.

Karima has been working in the field of international development for more than ten years. In her previous tenure in the Ministry of Planning and International Cooperation, she worked in bilateral cooperation with the European and Americas Section and participated in the preparation of government’s bilateral agreements. During the operationalization period of SUN Movement for the Strategy 3.0, Karima was a member of the operationalization group; she co-chaired the Finance Working Group.
