Biography

Dr. Richmond Aryeetey is Associate Professor at the University of Ghana School of Public Health where he mentors graduate students in public health nutrition and food systems. His multidisciplinary research experience, spanning over twenty years, focuses on Maternal, Infant, and Young Child Nutrition, Food systems, and nutrition policy analysis and implementation science.

He has been actively involved in the SUN movement since 2011, first as a civil society actor at the national level, and subsequently as an academic platform leader. Currently, he is Convenor of the Ghana SUN Academic Platform. He also actively participates in the National Nutrition Partners Forum, a monthly meeting of key actors in nutrition program planning and implementation in Ghana. Dr. Aryeetey serves on various National Committees including the Salt Iodization Committee, and the SUN movement Capacity working group in Ghana. Furthermore, Dr Aryeetey has worked in various capacities in Ghana for nutrition including generating primary empirical evidence, synthesis of existing knowledge, and translating these knowledge products to support policy development or review. He is currently co-chairing the development of Ghana’s food-based dietary guidelines. He is also advising the Gambian Government to develop its national food-based dietary guidelines. He has authored more than 70 peer-reviewed journal articles and books/book chapters on various subjects spanning his diverse research interests.
