In April 2016, the United Nations General Assembly adopted the resolution “Decade of Action on Nutrition”, described as a leap forward in galvanising international action on nutrition. The resolution invites governments to actively support its implementation, including the setting of national nutrition targets for 2025 and milestones based on internationally agreed indicators. An official launch was organised by the Government of the Republic of Uganda and the Government of the Federal Republic of Germany in July 2016 as a side-event to the High-level Political Forum.
