Strengthening the Capacity of SUN Countries through Learning Routes
Throughout 2014, the SUN Movement Secretariat partnered with the PROCASUR Corporation to develop a pilot programme that combined both face-to-face and web-based learning activities within a capacity building environment known as a “Learning Route”.
In preparation for the pilot programme, the SUN Movement Secretariat invited SUN Government Focal Points to work within their multi-stakeholder platforms to respond to an online survey. This survey allowed the SUN Movement Secretariat to map countries’ learning needs as well as the existence of best practice. 28 countries took part in a survey and in most cases, the SUN Government Focal Points were the primary respondents.

Two part pilot programme established
With this information, two Learning Routes were held as part of the programme, the first one, in Senegal under the coordination of the Fight Against Malnutrition Unit – Cellule de Lutte contre la Malnutrition (CLM); the second one in Peru, where visiting delegations were hosted by the Ministry of Development and Social Inclusion (MIDIS). Both Learning Routes aimed to provide the participating SUN countries with an increase in multi-stakeholder access to innovative tools and to strengthen relationships between countries to increase their capacity for scaling up nutrition. The programme was supported with SUN Movement MPTF funding.
