SUN Country Network meetings, which happen once every three months, bring together representatives from SUN Countries as they work together to address malnutrition through a multi-stakeholder and multi-sectoral approach.

As the SUN Movement enters its second phase from 2016-2020 with the ambition to demonstrate results, it is crucial to confirm, sustain and translate this commitment into sustainable momentum and action that can withstand political, economic and humanitarian shocks. SUN Countries are proving that, rather than waiting for political will to emerge by chance, momentum is being developed and sustained through deliberate action. That is why the 23rd Series of SUN Country Network Meetings, held from 9 to 13 May 2016, focused on the thematic discussion of “Building and Sustaining Political Commitment for Nutrition Action”.

SUN Countries Bangladesh, Burkina Faso, Chad, Guatemala, Kyrgyz Republic, Lao PDR, Malawi, Mozambique, Niger, Nepal, Pakistan, Peru, the Philippines, Senegal, the Gambia and Uganda were invited to kick-start the discussions. They presented their experiences and stimulated a cross-country exchange on the lessons learned through their efforts to sustain political commitment for nutrition action.
