Additional background

Ensuring that the SUN Movement’s global governance mechanisms promote country leadership and facilitate active participation from all corners of the Movement lies at the core of implementing SUN Movement Strategy SUN 3.0 (2021 – 2025). The ExCom acts on behalf of the SUN Lead Group to oversee the development and implementation of the Movement’s strategy (refer to the updated Terms of Reference and Rules of Procedure). The ExCom plays a crucial role in fostering collaboration among stakeholders, supporting country leadership, and coordinating resources from all Movement participants to address national priorities.

ExCom members represent the regions, networks, and thematic areas most relevant to the SUN Movement, collaborating in an accountable manner to address malnutrition in all its forms. Members are expected to dedicate approximately 5-7 days per year (unpaid) to prepare for and attend quarterly meetings, primarily conducted online. ExCom Members are invited annually to participate in an in-person retreat, traditionally held in Geneva. Simultaneous interpretation services for English, French, and Spanish are available at ExCom meetings and retreats.
