Dr. George D. Kembo
Biography
Dr. George Kembo is the Director General for Food and Nutrition Council in Zimbabwe, tasked with ensuring strategic leadership towards a food and nutrition security for the country. George is a livelihoods developmental practitioner whose leadership include the Development of the Zimbabwe Food and Nutrition Security Policy and its Implementation Matrix, and the development of the Zimbabwe National Multi-sectoral Food and Nutrition Strategies. He has spearheaded the role out of the Community Based Management to Food and Nutrition Insecurity and currently chairs both the Multi-sectoral Zimbabwe Vulnerability Assessment Committee and Nutrition Assessment Committees in Zimbabwe.
His work includes the establishment of National, Provincial, District and Ward Food and Nutrition Security Committees (the decentralized multi-sectoral structures), and being Zimbabwe convener for the Scaling Up Nutrition Movement. George is a member of the High-Level food and nutrition security committee for Zimbabwe. He is responsible for the multi-stakeholder coordination, research, livelihoods assessment, monitoring and evaluation of the food and nutrition security issues in Zimbabwe.
