The world is experiencing an unprecedented food and nutrition crisis. The impact of the ongoing conflict continues to threaten fragile food and nutrition security globally, especially in vulnerable countries. The effect of the conflict is expanding beyond the borders of Ukraine and Russia, triggering hunger and malnutrition across countries. Globally, 1.7 billion people — one-third of whom are already living in poverty — are now highly exposed to disruptions in food, energy, and finance systems. These shocks have necessitated countries to start responding to the global food and nutrition crisis and developing innovative solutions to sustain and advance the progress made on national nutrition goals.

This nutrition exchange webinar aimed at sharing the experiences and good practices of countries and ideas on how to increase visibility, commitment and action on nutrition, is being organized across the SUN Movement countries to highlight national-level efforts in addressing the food and nutrition crisis.

During the event, we heard national good practices on the food and nutrition crisis response from two countries in the Asia region:

  • Timor-Leste - on the topic of increase in budget for food security and nutrition from the Government
  • Viet Nam - on the topic of nutrition in emergency

Following this, participants had an opportunity to actively engage in an open dialogue centered on how these solutions represent opportunities for other countries to replicate.
