Bread for the World held a launch event in Washington DC to draw attention to the current and future challenges in ending hunger within a generation. Speakers at the event included:
- Rev. David Beckmann, President of the Bread for the World Institute
- Hon. Mwaniaid Sinare Maajar, Tanzania’s Ambassador to the United States
- Stephan Bauman, President and CEO of World Relief
- Jonathan Shrier, Acting Special Representative for Global Food Security, US Department of State
The panel was moderated by Ndimyake Mwakalyelye, radio and television journalist from Voice of America.
While Bread for the World calls specifically for US leadership in the fight against hunger, Beckmann also said, “The goal should be universal and include all countries. We can end hunger within a generation.”
