On the 1st September 2014, The Minister of Health and Social Services in collaboration with UNICEF, the World Health Organisation and the United States Agency for International Development, launched the child survival strategy to improve the nutritional status of children under the age of five years.

The strategy is part of the outcomes of the broader Namibian Alliance for Improved Nutrition (NAFIN) which is convened by Nahas Angula, who is the Defence Minister and a member of the SUN Lead Group. Angula expressed optimism that investing in the nutrition of children would benefit the country in the immediate and long term. “Good nutrition enhances child survival,” he declared.
