Throughout February and March, the Civil Society Alliance for Nutrition, Nepal (CSANN) was active in organising events around the country. Two major events include an interactive panel with parliamentarians for a political manifesto and another discussion on achievements to date of the National Multi-sector Nutrition Plan, to chart a way forward.

In addition to these major events, on 24 and 25 March 2016, CSANN organized a two day Nutrition Photo Exhibition based on the theme “Nutrition and Healthy Life”. In total 52 photographs and two life histories were displayed in the event. A “Nutrition Corner” with food demonstrations titled, “balanced diet for healthy living”, highlighted locally grown agricultural products in different ecological zones and explored the present nutrition situation and practice of food consumption. Over 360 visitors from government agencies, civil society, academia, the media, medical institutes and the general public attended the event. Mr. Stanley Chitekwe, Nutrition Section Chief of UNICEF, distributed the prize to the winners of photo competition.

Earlier, on 12 February 2016, the CSANN organized an interaction program to discuss the negative impact of junk food in children’s health and promotion and for utilization of homemade/locally available food. More than 100 participated in the event including media and the former secretary of Government of Nepal, Mr. Atma Ram Pandey. Panelists included representatives from the Ministry of Education, the Department of Food Technology and Quality Control and the Advertising Association. Students, teachers, canteen supervisors and parents from various schools of Kathmandu, Lalitpur and Bhaktapur participated in the event in addition to District Education Office of Kathmandu valley.
