On 20 March 2016, Civil Society Alliance for Nutrition, Nepal (CSANN) organized an interaction meeting with parliamentarians to address nutrition issues with priority. In total, 40 parliamentarians attended the event where the CSANN Chair presented the importance of nutrition and focused on the nutrition issues addressed in the political manifestos of different political parties. Min Raj Gyawali, Program Officer-Nutrition, National Nutrition and Food Security Secretariat presented the National Multi Sector Nutrition Plan to the parliamentarians.

“The issue of nutrition would get top priority at policy making levels if parliamentarians could be adequeately informed about the necessity and effectiveness of nutrition” – Madhu Marasini, Joint-Secretary of the National Planning Commission and SUN Government Focal Point

The event was successfully completed with the parliamentarians showing a commitment to prioritize nutrition as social, political and national developmental agenda.
