From 2 – 3 May 2014, Malawi celebrated the global day of action through a series of nationally broadcast radio debates featuring parliamentarians discussing nutrition issues. The SUN civil society organisation nutrition alliance (CSONA) used the international press freedom day of 2 May to highlight the role of nutrition in the post 2015 development agenda.
In advance of national elections, parliamentarians were encouraged to sign pledge forms committing to action for nutrition. The CSA also produced a position paper for the day and in addition held an open day in Mchinje with well known musicians performing songs and nutrition jingles they had composed on the theme of nutrition.
