In the lead up to presidential elections on 20th January 2015, the civil society alliance for scaling up nutrition in Zambia (CSOSUN) launched the Vote Nutrition campaign. The campaign drew attention to the importance of nutrition with six award winning musicians who collaborated to create a jingle that played across three major radio stations; Radio Phoenix, HotFM and Radio 2.

The artists were Pilato, Dalitso, T-sean, Macky2 and SlapD. Each have strong ties to their communities and are sensitive to the problems that these communities face – their large fan base and strong social standing in their communities lent invaluable integrity and strength to the campaign. In addition, CSOSUN also jointly hosted the presidential debates and were able to sensitise leaders and citizens on all sides, to the problems of malnutrition.

The winning parties president, Edgar Chagwa Lungu recognised that nutrition is a multi-sectoral issue that needs to be addressed by different sectors, which he was going to spearhead.
