CNN and UNICEF have come together to call global attention to the silent crisis of stunting that impacts over 165 million children under five – with more than 90 percent living in Africa and Asia.  Without proper nourishment early in life – especially during the 1000 days from pregnancy though age two – these children will never grow to meet their full potential.

In partnering with UNICEF to tell the story of stunting, CNN is helping to raise awareness of this pressing problem, and the opportunities to change the lives of millions of children, mothers and families by improving nutrition in early life.

UNICEF Goodwill Ambassadors David Beckham and Mia Farrow have reported on the ‘silent emergency’ of stunting on CNN.com.

CNN also visited three countries to capture the story of children and mothers suffering from malnutrition. Aired on CNN International, the pieces feature mothers and children impacted by stunting  in three high burden countries: Afghanistan, Kenya and India.

CNN correspondent Christiane Amanpour also hosted a special on her to highlight the issue featuring interviews with UNICEF Goodwill Ambassador Angelique Kidjo and UNICEF Executive Director Anthony Lake.
