ICN2 Follow Up

On 3 December 2015, the Food and Agriculture Organization (FAO) held an event to discuss the global architecture which supports the comprehensive approach to nutrition embedded in the Second International Conference on Nutrition (ICN2) outcomes and the 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development.

The event was opened by José Graziano da Silva who shared that food security and nutrition were crucial to achieving Agenda 2030 and announced the merging of the nutrition division with the food systems division at FAO. He shared that this merger would bring new energy, new blood, and new synergies, to the enhance FAO’s support to countries, particularly with legal frameworks and policies to address malnutrition and to work on capacity building.

Hon. Amira Daoud Hassan Gornass, Ambassador of the Republic of the Sudan to FAO, and Chair of the Committee on World Food Security (CFS) shared the emerging nutrition agenda for the CFS including its challenges and opportunities.
