From the 9th – 11th December 2014, the Sustainable Development Policy Institute (SDPI) held its 7th International Development Conference in Islamabad, Pakistan. The event was organised by SDPI together with FAO, IFAD and WFP and was titled “Pathways to Sustainable Development”. The conference brings together multiple stakeholders to share best practices and present workable solutions to emerging challenges in South Asia and neighbouring regions.

During the event, Federal Minister for National Food Security, Sikandar Hayat Khan Bosan, said Pakistan has made some remarkable progress in different areas including agriculture and food security during the last several decades. He shared that the government attaches high priority to food security and the goal is to achieve a society free from hunger and malnutrition. The minister said that Pakistan has joined the Scaling Up Nutrition (SUN) movement, and initiated the national zero hunger and family farming programme.
