On 10 April 2014, members of the SUN civil society platform were warmly received by the First Lady of Sierra Leone, Madam Sia Nyama Koroma. The First Lady promised to support the SUN Movement which she sees as one of the many channels for reaching women and children. She also said she has been following the activities of FOCUS 1000 (Facilitating and Organizing Communities to Unite for Sustainable-development for the crucial first 1000 days in the child’s life), a national non-governmental organization that chairs the SUN civil society platform. The First Lady gave the team her full support in their work for women and children particularly in nutrition and when soliciting funds from donors.
