On 7 May 2014, a new campaign, Generation Nutrition, was launched in the UK Parliament calling for an end to child deaths from acute malnutrition. Currently, 52 million children under five are suffering from acute malnutrition and 1 million of these children will die each year , something this campaign aims to address.

Speakers at the event included;

  • Aminata Shamit Koroma – Director of Food and Nutrition at the Ministry of Health, Sierra Leone
  • Augustin Flory – Director of Nutrition at the Children’s Investment Fund Foundation
  • Baljinder Heer –  Senior Public Health Strategist at the NHS
  • Jane Edmondson – Head of Human Development at DFID
  • Jean-Michel Grand – Executive Director at Action Against Hunger UK

Generation Nutrition aims to engage members of the public, governments as well as global institutions and has begun with a petition which urges governments to end child acute malnutrition by adopting a 10 point plan. bRead the article at The Institute of Development Studies
