On 26th November 2014, the National Congress of Indonesian Nutritionists Association (PERSAGI) was held in Yogyakarta, Indonesia. During the event, Health Minister Nila Moeloek said that she believes that stunting should cease to exist in Indonesia. She said stunting endangers the future of the Indonesians and the nation itself. “We don’t want stunting to happen any longer. We have to achieve the target to decrease stunting.”

Moeloek said to the Millennium Challenge Account – Indonesia (MCA-Indonesia) team to aggressively fight against stunting. “We have to activate the fight through media, therefore the government and the people know about the dangers of stunting,” she said. To cope with stunting, Moeloek believed the people needed more education about the importance of nutrition to pregnant mothers and children, as it would significantly influenced the behavior change towards nutrition.

During the event, Nina Sardjunani, Deputy Minister for Human Resources Development and Cultural Affairs and SUN Movement Lead Group Member, received an award from PERSAGI for her efforts in the moving the nutrition sector forward in Indonesia.
