HLPE Report 9 - Cover_100dpiIn 15th May 2015, the High Level Panel of Experts (HLPE) released their latest report focused on Water for Food Security and Nutrition. This is the 9th report to be released by the HLPE and is a comprehensive effort to bring together access to water, food security and nutrition. The report was commissioned by the UN Committee on World Food Security (CFS) and makes important links between land, water and productivity. It highlights that water is integral to human food security and nutrition. The main topics of the report are water scarcity and water governance.

The HLPE report argues for coherence on these issues at all levels of policymaking and management, from local to global. We are calling for a human rights approach to water governance to enhance food security and nutrition. Only this will ensure healthy and productive lives for all.” – Lyla Mehta, IDS UK and team leader for the HLPE Report in an article for The Guardian

The report will inform the CFS on water for their forty-second session from 12th-15th October 2015, in Rome.
