UNGA Side Event FlyerOn 24 September 2015, the government of Indonesia is hosting a side event at the 70th United Nations General Assembly (UNGA). The event, titled “Food Security, Nutrition and Health: Harnessing Multi-sectoral Partnerships for the Post-2015 Development Agenda”, is supported by the World Food Programme, UNICEF and the World Bank. Featured speakers include H.E. Prof. Nila Moeloek, Minister of Health for Indonesia, Ertharin Cousin, Executive Director of the World Food Programme and Dr. Meera Shekar, Lead Health and Nutrition Specialist in the Africa Region from the World Bank.

The event will:

  • Emphasize the role of multiple stakeholders in partnerships for food security, nutrition and health at a national level
  • Distinguish food security and nutrition challenges beyond the provision of food
  • Discuss relevant experiences in promoting and enhancing utilization of local foods to improve community nutritional status
  • Identify best practices on the implementation of food security and improved nutrition efforts
