On 4th June 2015, the International Agricultural Forum was held at EXPO Milano. It brought together over 350 participants, including 50 agriculture ministers, and focused on how to improve food security, nutrition and food systems. The meeting was organised by the Italian Ministry of Agriculture and Forestry and included two days of panels, presentations and discussion, to explore different ways countries are facing their challenges with various legislation and different resources.

We must keep in mind food cultural heritages in order to achieve truly sustainable solutions. Beyond the level of food consumption, adequate nutrition depends on healthy diets, food safety, and access to health.” – José Graziano da Silva, Director-General of FAO, International Agricultural Forum 2015.

The theme “From Expo Milano 2015 and Beyond: Agriculture to Feed the Planet” brought attention to the fight against hunger and climate change and concluded with the signing of the “Milan Charter”. The Milan Charter is expected to be the cultural legacy of Expo Milano 2015, it is lead by the Italian government and is a call on every citizen, association, company and institution to assume their responsibility in ensuring that future generations can enjoy the right to food.
