Journalists inspired to report on nutrition in Sierra Leone

From 1 to 3 August 2017, Focus 1000 and the Sierra Leone Scaling up Nutrition Secretariat held a workshop with journalists from electronic and print media across the country, to build their capacity to report on nutrition.

From 1 to 3 August 2017, Focus 1000 and the Sierra Leone Scaling up Nutrition Secretariat held a workshop with journalists from electronic and print media across the country, to build their capacity to report on nutrition. The workshop included the investment case for scaling up nutrition, inspirational content for human interest stories and the sharing of ideas on communication during times of crisis.

Lead Facilitator, Nance Webber, a communication specialist, informed media practitioners that 82% of the country’s population lives in poverty, especially in rural communities, and that it is important to collectively identify and address bottle necks to social change, through the media.

Focus 1000 is a non-governmental organisation in Sierra Leone and co-chairs the Sierra Leone Civil Society Platform on SUN and Immunisation with Hellen Keller International.
