Launch of The Bangladesh Civil Society Network for Promoting Nutrition (BCSNPN)

The Bangladesh Civil Society Network for Promoting Nutrition (BCSNPN) was created on 8 September 2012 and an official launch of this network took place at the CIRDAP auditorium on 19 December 2012.

This ceremony brought together around 90 representatives from different ministries, parliament, the Directorate General of Health Services (DGHS), the Directorate General of Family Planning (DGFP), National Nutrition Services (NNS), development partners, United Nations, international and local NGOs, research and academic institutions, professional bodies, associations and the media.  Learn more.

Professor Dr. A.F.M Ruhal Haque, Honourable Minister, Ministry of Health and Family Welfare was the chief guest of that occasion. Mr. Tanvir Shakil Joy, Honorable Member of National Parliament, Bangladesh Parliament; Dr. Md. Murad Hassan, Member Parliamentary Standing Committee, Ministry of Health and Family Welfare (MoHFW); Mr. Md Humayun Kabir, Senior Secretary, MoHFW; Mr. Mihir Kanti Majumder, PhD, Secretary, Ministry of Local Government and Rural Development and Cooperatives (MOLGRD & C) and Prof. Dr. Khondhaker Md. Shefyetullah, Director General, DGHS  all participated as special guests and the seminar was welcomed by Prof. Dr. Md.  Ekhlasur Rahman, Line Director of the National Nutrition Services (NNS) and moderated by Prof. Shah Monir Hossain, Advisor, Eminence. 

The seminar was chaired by Prof. MQK Talukder, Chairperson of the Centre for Women and Child Health (CWCH). Moreover, Noreen Prendiville, UNICEF Bangladesh, Lalita Bhattacharjee, FAO and Dr. SK Roy, Bangladesh Breastfeeding Foundation (BBF), Dr. Abu Jamil Faisel, Engender Health and Prof. AKM Nurun Nabi, Dhaka University participated as panelists.
