From 1 – 7 August 2015, the World Breastfeeding Week was celebrated in Nepal with an interaction program organised by the Civil Society Alliance for Nutrition Nepal. The Interaction Program was organised with the support of local staff and the management committee of Kanti Children’s Hospital. Over 65 participants including the media, joined the program. The program was facilitated by Uma Koirala, Chair of the Civil Society Alliance for Nutrition Nepal and was organized with the following objectives:

  • To orient the hospital staffs including management committee and staff nurses about breastfeeding (introduction, importance, types, steps, anatomy and physiology, status of breastfeeding) components of Breast Feeding Hospital Initiatives
  • To interact with the hospital staffs about the existing practices of breastfeeding in hospital
  • To discuss about the policies and strategies for breastfeeding in Nepal
