In August 2015, new statistics were reported by Peru, announcing that chronic child malnutrition has halved in seven years. The new figures from the National Statistics Institute show that in the first half of 2015, 14.4% of children under five suffer from chronic child malnutrition vs 29% seven years ago.
“This reduction is significant because, after several years, there has been a change in the trend. We highlight a reduction of 8 percentage points anemia at village level, by strengthening policies to combat anemia running the MoH in coordination with social programs. “ – Mario Tavera, Advisor, Ministry of Health Peru.
