The second SUN-GSO Enhanced Learning Exercise on the Prevention and Management of Conflict of Interest was held in Nairobi, Kenya on 29 – 30 May 2014.  The meeting was well attended, with 60 representatives from governments, civil society, business, the UN system and development partners from Kenya, as well as Burundi, Nigeria, Tanzania and Uganda. The Dr. Patrich Amoth from the Ministry of Health opened the meeting on behalf of the Government of Kenya. There were also two guest speakers, Grainne Moloney, UNICEF Kenya, and Ruth Nduati, Professor of Professor of Paediatrics, University of Nairobi, who helped set out the issues and framed the discussion for participants.

A series of ‘Learning Circles’ allowed participants to break into groups to consider a series of case studies and how the SUN-GSO Reference Note and Toolkit could have been used to address the situations in these case studies. Participants recognised the challenges related to addressing the issues and many said that they would take learnings from the two-day meeting back to their countries and hold similar country-led discussions at the national and sub-national level.
