On 21 September 2016, Sudan’s Ministry of Health organised an event in Khartoum to celebrate the launch of a 5-Year Strategy for the Health of Women, Children and Adolescents. The strategy realises the commitment of the President of Sudan in 2015 to the Global Strategy for Women’s, Children’s and Adolescents’ Health (2016-2030). Sudan is the first country in the middle East to celebrate the launch of a 5-year strategy in line with the global strategy launched by the United Nations Secretary-General. The global strategy is a bold roadmap for ending all preventable maternal, newborn and child deaths, including stillbirths, by 2030, and improving their overall health and wellbeing.
A video was created for the event featuring “10 priority actions in 5 years”, of which, nutrition was a core pillar.
The ceremony was honored by the first lady, Widad Babikir, and included guests from the national and international development community and featured the new video to communicate their “10 priorities in 5 years” call to action, of which, nutrition is a major pillar.
