From 24-25 October 2016, a two day workshop was held to organize the Scaling Up Nutrition Civil Society Alliance in Liberia with 42 locals and 3 international civil society organisations under the theme “Better Nutrition For All”. The event was organized by Action Contre la Faim (ACF) with technical support from UNICEF in an effort to support the government in its commitment to fight under nutrition and build on the governments commitment to scaling up nutrition when it joined the SUN Movement in February 2014.

The process for setting up the SUN Civil Society Alliance of Liberia (SUNCSAL) was interrupted due to the Ebola Virus Disease emergency. But now, the event at a Monrovia Christian Fellowship Center, in Sinkor, has signified a renewed effort with the election of a steering committee to lead the SUNCSAL.

This committee will work to mobilize resources to empower local CSOs, women groups and youth groups with the requisite knowledge and skills about stunting, wasting, micronutrient deficiencies and good practices on breastfeeding.”

Dismal Cupson, newly elected chairperson of SUNCSAL

Kortima of Zorzor District Women Care (ZODWOCA) – first Vice Chairperson, Mr. Joseph Tubman of Breastfeeding Advocacy Group (BAG) – second Vice Chairperson and Mr. Augustine G.
