SUN Global Gathering new dates announced
Following the postponement of the event in October 2024 due to an outbreak of the Marburg virus, and after consultation with the Rwandan government and other stakeholders, the SUN Movement’s Global Gathering will now take place at the Kigali Convention Center, Rwanda, from 4–6 November 2025.
SUN remains committed to supporting countries in developing their commitments for the Nutrition for Growth (N4G) Summit in Paris, March 2025. By November, with commitments finalized and the World Health Assembly’s 2025–2030 nutrition targets set, and in the lead-up to COP30, the SUN Movement will be better positioned to integrate nutrition action into both global and national agendas.
More details will follow.

Previous announcement issued on 9 October 2024
The SUN Global Gathering that had been scheduled for Kigali, Rwanda for 26-28 November 2024 is being postponed. This difficult decision by our Executive Committee is due to the outbreak of the Marburg virus in the region.
Our first and foremost responsibility has to be to the health and safety of our more than 1000 participants from 66 countries. This precautionary measure also ensures that the Global Gathering does not complicate the Rwandan Government’s swift and effective response to this outbreak.
We are committed to holding the Global Gathering in 2025 and will work to reschedule it at a time that aligns with other significant international events. The new dates will be finalized in consultation with all relevant partners.
The 2024 Global Gathering would have been a valuable milestone leading up to the Nutrition for Growth (N4G) Summit. To maintain momentum, we will ensure regional consultations, providing an opportunity to discuss and exchange ideas on national-level commitments. By hosting the Global Gathering when the N4G commitments are finalized, the World Health Assembly's nutrition targets for 2025–2030 are set, and ahead of COP30, the SUN Movement will be in a stronger position to integrate nutrition action into both global and national agendas.
As a Movement, we are committed to ensuring that the nutrition agenda features strongly in forthcoming discussions on health, food systems, social protection, finance and climate agendas. We look forward to working together with you to make that a reality.
Thank you for your continued patience, understanding, and unwavering commitment to the Scaling Up Nutrition Movement.
Afshan Khan
Assistant Secretary-General of the United Nations and Coordinator of the Scaling Up Nutrition (SUN) Movement.
