In early December 2014, following the Second International Conference on Nutrition, the United Nations Standing Committee on Nutrition (UNSCN) finalised a Policy Brief and Technical Note on “Nutrition and the Post-2015 Sustainable Development Goals”. The UNSCN recognises that explicit attention to nutrition is needed across the Sustainable Development Goals and developed the two documents together with Patrick Webb, a Professor of Nutrition at the Friedman School of Nutrition Science and Policy at Tufts University.

EXE_Policy_Priority Nutrition Indicators for the Post-2015 SDGs_001The purpose of the policy brief is to encourage dialogue on how to apply best practices at scale to resolve the world’s nutrition challenges quickly, and how to ensure that all SDGs benefit from the gains made possible by good nutrition for all. The purpose of the technical note is to describe the paths through which nutrition will play a key role in promoting success of the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), and how achieving the SDGs can also benefit nutrition.
