The theme of World Food Day 2012 was Agricultural Cooperatives – Key to Feeding the World. It highlights the role of cooperatives in improving food and nutrition security and contributing to the eradication of hunger. In his message delivered at the World Food Day Ceremony, the UN Secretary General said “Agricultural cooperatives play a vital role in improving food and nutrition security. Owned by their members, they can generate employment, alleviate poverty, and empower poor and marginalized groups in rural areas, especially women, to drive their own destinies.”
World Food Day has prompted partners and stakeholders in the SUN Movement to develop the following resources.
