SDGMatrix-ConsumerGoods_001On 16 February 2016, the Food, Beverage and Consumer Goods issue of the SDG Industry Matrix was released by the United Nations (UN) Global Compact. It profiles opportunities for principle based initiatives and collaborations for the industry. The SDG Industry Matrix is a joint initiative between the UN Global Compact and the international consultancy KPMG. The Matrix forms part of a UN Global Compact partnership which is designed to inform by example. The project showcases brief industry-specific examples and ideas for corporate action that are related to each of the Sustainable Development Goals.

The issue features a snapshot of certification schemes that complement the UN Global Compact’s ten principles, standards such as the Food Loss and Waste Protocol and tools such as the Pulp, Paper and Packaging Guidelines. In addition, information is provided about a number of collaborations which advance sustainable development including the SUN Movement, the SUN Business Network and the New Alliance for Food Security and Nutrition.
