The SUN Movement is entering a new phase and the Nutrition Financing Community of Practice (CoP) is well positioned to keep improving awareness and understanding of the current nutrition financing and how SUN countries can improve access to innovative financing mechanisms and better track resources.
Building on its achievements during SUN 2.0, the CoP will help include strategic areas of work on continuously improving the planning, implementation and monitoring of national nutrition plans. In addition, the CoP can also support technical assistance (TA) requests related to Nutrition financing for SUN countries.
In December 2020, the SUN Secretariat led the meeting of Nutrition Financing CoP. The webinar was an opportunity to state the SUN Movement priorities for 2021, the year of Nutrition: the Nutrition for Growth (N4G)/UN Food Systems Summit, the operationalization of the SUN 3.0 strategy (2021-2025). Several SUN partners seized this opportunity to present their work nutrition related:
- The University of Washington (UW) and Results for Development(R4D) with the ‘Strengthening Economic Evaluation of Multisector Strategies for Nutrition (SEEMS-Nutrition) project,
- Social Finance with the outcomes funding for nutrition programmes (more information is found on Food for thought: The case for a global Nutrition Outcomes Fund);
- The Technical Assistance to Strengthen Capabilities project (TASC) team (follow on to MQSUN+) with a brief summary of current and planned TA assignments and the Knowledge Management and Learning plan.
- The Power of Nutrition and their work on ‘Catalytic financing for nutrition – incentivising new and diverse funds for nutrition’ towards and beyond the Nutrition for Growth Summit.
