On the 22nd January 2015, the SUN Business Network organised a Breakfast focused on Creating a Sustainable Food System in the Post-2015 Agenda at the World Economic Forum in Davos. The event was co-hosted by the Global Alliance for Improved Nutrition (GAIN), the World Food Programme (WFP), Royal DSM and Unilever. The breakfast session built on the commitments of 37 multinationals and 70 national companies supporting the Scaling Up Nutrition (SUN) Movement.

At the event, 60 senior key opinion leaders joined in for round-table discussions on five themes: private sector & nutrition; the nexus of food, water, health, and sanitation; financing for global development; role of non-state actors in post-2015 development and agriculture & nutrition. Participants included David Nabarro, the UN Special Representative on Food Security and Nutrition and Coordinator of the SUN Movement and Ertharin Cousin, Executive Director of WFP and a member of the SUN Lead Group.

Each round table discussed how they will accelerate progress and actions on nutrition and nutrition-sensitive initiatives. They identified new actions for non-state actors and governments to ensure that nutrition remains a central part of an integrated Post-2015 agenda. The round-tables not only shared best practice but also explored new holistic solutions for delivering the SDGs with a view to realising healthy lives for all through improved nutrition.

Ertharin Cousin said on the eve of her attendance to the forum “As global business leaders gather in Davos, we will actively push for even greater corporate investment in lifesaving programmes and innovative solutions to meeting the goal of eradicating hunger and poverty around the world”.
