September 2015 Update: In addition to preparation for the 2015 SUN Movement Global Gathering, the United Nations (UN) Network for SUN has developed and piloted an Inventory tool of UN Nutrition Actions accompanied by a guidance package to support the development of UN joint nutrition strategies or agendas. The full package will be available to UN networks at country level in the coming weeks.

The Inventory of UN Nutrition Actions has been conducted in Mozambique and is ongoing in Ghana, Burkina Faso, Mali, Myanmar and the Philippines. Preliminary results of selected country inventories will be shared at the Global Gathering.

REACH (Renewed Effort against Child Hunger and Undernutrition) Evaluation

The Joint Evaluation of the REACH Initiative, conducted earlier this year in 8 REACH countries, has highlighted the key strengths of REACH and provided recommendations to improve REACH support to countries. The evaluation recognised REACH as a key facilitator for the SUN Movement at an operational level (“SUN’s boots on the ground”) and acknowledged its unique facilitating and catalytic functions at country level due to its neutrality, flexibility, quality of tools and linkages with national planning and priorities. The REACH Summary Evaluation Report will be available at the beginning of October.

The evaluation has paved the way for new strategic directions which will be further developed in the five-year REACH 2.0 strategy. The UN Network for SUN will be supporting the development of REACH 2.0 in line with the new SUN Movement Strategy (2016 – 2020) and the UN Global Nutrition Agenda.
