Nutrition for Growth

On 7-8 December 2021, the Government of Japan hosted the Tokyo Nutrition for Growth Summit 2021 (#N4G2021). The summit was an unprecedented opportunity to set the world on a pathway towards achieving the SDG targets – in particular, to end malnutrition in all its forms by 2030 and strengthen links between diet, food systems and health. Its timing is key, with only four years to achieve the 2025 World Health Assembly targets, and less than 10 years to reach the 2030 Sustainable Development Goals.

At N4G 2021, Governments and donors pledged more than USD 27 billion to address the global malnutrition and hunger crisis.

The first-ever Nutrition Accountability Framework

The Nutrition Accountability Framework (NAF) creates the world’s first independent and comprehensive platform for registering SMART nutrition commitments and monitoring nutrition action. It has been endorsed by the government of Japan, the SUN Movement, the World Health Organization, UNICEF, USAID and many others, ahead of the Nutrition for Growth (N4G) Summit 2021.

Technical briefing series (October 2021)

In October 2021, the SUN Movement Secretariat, alongside partners, arranged four technical briefings for SUN member States to unpack what SMART commitments look like and how they should be formed.
