In December 2016, the Embassy of the Kingdom of the Netherlands in Benin pledged €14,750,000 to country-wide projects in Water, Sanitation and Hygiene (WASH) and Integrated Water Resources Management (IWRM). The OMI DELTA fund will run from 1 December 2016 to 30 June 2021.

IPU Secretary-General calls for action on nutrition from Speakers of Parliament

On 2 February 2017, Martin Chungong, Secretary General of the Inter-Parliamentary Union sent a letter to the Speakers of Parliament of the 58 SUN Countries to encourage action against malnutrition. The letter was accompanied by a concept note detailing the benefit of a Parliamentarian consultation on nutrition to strengthen parliamentarian engagement and contribution to the the collaborative work of the SUN Movement.

Mexico tackles malnutrition with the PROSPERA social protection program

Despite important progress in poverty reduction, significant segments of the Mexican population still face food insecurity and nutrition challenges. The Ministry of Social Development (SEDESOL) documents that in 2012, as many as 27.4 million people (23.3 percent of the total population) reported some deprivation related to food access. The prevalence of deprivation related to food access is especially high among indigenous population (35.4 percent), youth (28.1 percent), and people with disabilities (31.2 percent).
