On 4-5 November 2013, an official ceremony and workshop took place to launch, review and approve Chad’s National Nutrition Policy (2014-2025). 

The official opening ceremony of the workshop took place just after the presentation session of the policy document. It was chaired by the Minister of Public Health assisted by his counterpart of Agriculture and Irrigation and the Representative of the UN agencies.

Three speeches marked this ceremony, including that of the head of CNNTA and UNICEF Representative made on behalf of all UN agencies. The Minister of Public Health also spoke.  .

After the official opening, participants gathered in working groups to share and gather opinions and observations of the draft plan. This exercise focused on priority objectives, the institutional framework for coordination and implementation of the draft multi-sectoral action plan.  Several recommendations were proposed to improve the draft plan.

Following these rich discussions, Chad’s National Food and Nutrition Policy (2014 – 2025) was technically approved unanimously after consideration of the various comments and recommendations. The closing ceremony of the validation workshop was chaired by the Minister of Public Health.  The Policy is now awaiting validation by the government. Chad is developing a multi-sectoral nutrition action plan to support the implementation of the objectives in the National Food and Nutrition Policy.
