The Kenya Civil Society Alliance was officially launched on 9 May 2014 aligned with the Civil Society Network Global Day of Action. The launch consisted of a media breakfast in Nairobi which attracted over 60 participants.

A panel discussion was also held which highlighted the importance of a coordinated approach to tackle nutrition. The example of Uganda was presented to inspire all actors to aim for the same reduction in chronic malnutrition. The establishment of a high level coordination mechanism amongst all stakeholders is a first step towards achieving this.

This new alliance builds on the coordinated efforts of a nutrition task force that had been active since September 2013. The task force was brought together multiple civil society organisations from both nutrition sensitive and nutrition specific sectors and was a platform for the new alliance to be formed.
